The Eyes of Horus - Footprints

In the lowest time of your life, you are being carried!

Life has its many ups and downs.  You have those feeling where your heart drops, you feel unsteady and the hopeless and vulnerable.  Nothing you do seems to help. You know when it is impacting you because you find it hard to just get out of bed.

A poem that I love to read and contemplate its meaning when I am impacted with life’s downs is:

Footprints in the Sand by Mary Stevenson

One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord.
Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.
In each scene, I noticed footprints in the sand.
Sometimes there were two sets of footprints, other times there were one set of footprints.

This bothered me because I noticed that during the low periods of my life when I was suffering from
anguish, sorrow or defeat, I could see only one set of footprints.

So I said to the Lord, “You promised me, Lord, that if I followed you, you would walk with me always.
But I have noticed that during the most trying periods of my life there have only been one set of footprints in the sand.
Why, when I needed you most, you have not been there for me?”

The Lord replied,
“The times when you have seen only one set of footprints, is when I carried you.”

This poem reminds you that you are not alone.  When you are having those feelings of vulnerability and hopelessness, you can have the knowledge that you can obtain help and have hope.   No matter what your spiritual beliefs are, there can always be someone either in life or in the spirit world who is there to help you along the way.

Action for This Week

When I am feeling down I read this poem and then either find someone to talk to about what is going on, or I talk to my angels to get some peace and direction.

When life is troubling for you, read the poem and then find a person who is supporting you and talk to them about your issue.  When you are having a struggle, it is important to get it out, but you do not need to tell everyone.  Only tell one or two who can support you.

Have a good week

Hi David, this is one of my favorite poems too. Thank you for this post. It resonated well with me. It is such a comfort to know that we are never alone. Once we grasp this simple premise, life becomes brighter, more peaceful and we are filled with love for all. By allowing God to lead the way, problems can be avoided and we are able to follow our intuition and become “ourselves”.
Nothing beats that feeling of joy when we are connected to the Divine and are able to share this joy with others.
For me, divinity is joy, peace and unconditional love and I strive to let go of controlling my life and just letting it flow.
    Works for me! 🙂

    Kindest regards,

    Adele Robinson.
